Twee boeke van Frederick Nietsche en Siener van Rensburg beland per ongeluk tussen Dolla se versameling Mills & Boon’s wat sy spesiaal vir haar “trip” op die Costa Concordia bymekaar gemaak het. Dolla begin lees terwyl sy wag om aan boord te gaan. “Kennis is mag”, sê Nietshce, maar “Kennis sonder begrip is gevaarlik”… en, soos te verwagte, kry Dolla onmiddelik ‘n uitnodiging van die Kaptein om op die “brug” te kom kuier…

Die res is geskiedenis, maar soos julle weet, Dolla was al op Survivor, en die hele ondervinding laat haar dink..DIEP dink, oor diep dinge soos “alpha-males”, Twitter, “Afrikaanse pop-liedjie lirieke en Nietsche se Relatiwiteits-teorie… of was dit nou Albert s’n?

Boonop is Dolla ook deel van ‘n ongelooflike nuwe mediese deurbraak: Wat meeste wetenskaplikes voorheen as wensdenkery beskou het is nou ‘n werklikheid: Dolla se Pille vir Domgeit… ‘n wonder-produk wat verligting gaan bring vir derduisende mense wat ly aan simptome soos verwarring, lae selfbeeld, lamheid in die kop en ontoereikende houtwerkpunte.

Ongelukkig is hierdie medikasie op hierdie stadium slegs beskikbaar by Dolla se “lewendige” vertonings, so bespreek nou en neem beheer oor die res van jou lewe.
Jy sal medikasie nodig hê, want Dolla filosofeer en voorspel…

By accident, two books of Frederick Nietsche and Siener van Rensburg end up amongst Dolla’s stash of Mills & Boons, specially collected for her “trip” on the Costa Concordia. Dolla starts reading this strange material while she waits to go on board . “Knowledge is power”, writes Nietshce, but “ knowledge without understanding is dangerous”… and, predictably, Dolla immediately gets an invite to join the Captain on the bridge…

The rest is history, and as we all know, Dolla is a Survivor, but the whole experience and her newfound knowledge, makes Dolla think….deeply.. about things such as Alpha males, Twitter, Blonde road rage and Nietsche’s Relativity-theory… or was it Albert’s ??… anyway… be warned…. this “course” is not for beginners…

Die geliefde Liewe Heksie is terug!

Haai oe, maar sy het bietjie vergeet van verjaarsdae en daarom vier sy haar “eerste” verjaarsdag by Potter’s Place in Jeffreysbaai op 27 Oktober om 14:00.. Met haar persente, ‘n biki-kini en rolskaatse beloof sy om Blommeland nog kleurryker te maak. Maar ai, die groot grillerige Geelheks probeer haar vieringe in die (rolskaats)wiele ry. Levinia vra mooi:”Asseblief klein en groot kaboutervriende van Menseland, help my dat ons al die stoute karnallies kan verwilder.”

Verna Vels se immergroen verhale word verlewendig met baie gehoordeelname en voortsnellende aksie. Margit Meyer-Rödenbeck (alias Dowwe Dolla) is die “ultimate”, nimlike Heksie en Deon van Zyl draf die rolle van Karel Kat, Geelheks en Koning Rosekrans lag-lag kaf.

An evening with a South Afircan icon – all his best music!

Mel Botes’s music reflects his passion, exuberant creativity and a mind that questions everything: sense and purpose but also boundaries, consciousness and reality. It abounds with contrasting qualities – sometimes bittersweet, painfully beautiful, sad; dramatic, majestic, inspiring, compelling; sometimes disturbing, tempestuous, with explosions of sound that surprise; sometimes strange, even eerie … but NEVER boring.

Imagine a blend of influences like Pink Floyd, Sting, Bob Dylan and Mark Knopfler, an admiration for Vivaldi en Beethoven and Mel’s amazing ability to constantly surprise with the way in which he shifts boundaries

He became an accomplished songwriter and guitar player (one of SA’s best) and developed a unique, personal style which has become his trademark. Today, Mel Botes is synonymous with creative and innovative music in South Africa.

In the early 90’s, Mel first hit the spotlight with his four-part rock opera, David’s Confession. The first movement of this groundbreaking work ‘About Time’, was staged at Sun City a few years ago. David’s Confession is another production close to Mel’s heart and this project took seven years to complete. Although it has only been exposed to a limited audience, this album was considered one of the cornerstones of South African Rock music and a milestone in the history of local music!

Mel has subtly been influenced by Pink Floyd, Sting, Bob Dylan and Mark Knopfler to name but a few as well as other distinctive classical influences and he has an admiration for Vivaldi en Beethoven. His classical guitar training, supported by an interest in jazz, blues and celtic sounds, appears prominently in his work!

The band consists of three members, Francois Hugo on lead vocals and acoustic guitar, Alan Kozak on acoustic guitar and John Dickens on Percussion. Between the three of them, they have a wealth of experience. Francois has fronted many top bands and is known for his Joe Cocker and other rock impersonations with the Centrestage Company.

The show was first presented at the Little Theatre on the Wharf in Port Alfred where it was sold out within a day and became an instant hit. The unplugged nature of the show lends itself to a party sing-along atmosphere, all within a nice cozy setting.

JEFFREYS BAY, South Africa (Monday, July 9, 2012) – Big and perfect surf has been predicted for the opening day of the Billabong Pro J-Bay 2012, and is set to continue through the first three days of competition. The swell has already arrived in Jeffreys Bay, and the surfers in town are having great practice sessions as six-foot lines pour down the famous Supertubes point.
